Get to know Jason
I joined the Antique and Auction Industry after leaving school in 1988 and fell in love with the
frenetic pace and variety auctions offer and I still vividly remember my first auction. A year later I
had my first taste of Auctioneering, and (despite my nerves) I was hooked further. Two years on I
joined newly formed Adelaide Antique Auctions, where I was exposed to the boom of country
furniture in Australia.
Years later I had the opportunity to join Scammell Auctions, and even more fortunate seven years
ago to purchase the business. Whilst the fundamentals of what we do are the same, we have grown
to 20 staff and advancements in technology have had a huge impact on what we do, including our
own Live Bidding App.
And I love the stories ……………everything we sell has a story. Over my 31 years I have sold
hundreds of thousands of lots, and held over 2000 auctions. My areas of particular interest include
Australia Colonial Furniture, Australian Art, Sterling Silver and 20th Century Design.
Whilst I shudder at the term expert, I have been fortunate to be part of the Antique and Auction
Industry for a very long time and have amassed a considerable knowledge in many facets of
Antiques and at 49 years old I now consider myself one “of the ole timers”.
My aim is to share my knowledge with those that hold the same thirst for the depth and colourful
history of Antiques.
